Any 302/5.0 fans out there

It amazes me that for so many years the small block Fords were considered junk for performance. Now with many more SBF parts available, you can build mega horsepower with a little money. I'm from the old school... carbs and distributors. I don't like the tunnel ram's, but a good high rise and Holley carb... now that is the way to go. If you read performance mag's, and even Holley, they say that for a 302 engine, 600cfm is all it will handle. I disagree! I have a .030 over 302, (306) with 12.5 TRW pistons and a solid .560/
.585 lift cam and the more it gets, the more it likes it. I run an 830 cfm nascar carb on it and it loves it. I put a 1000+ cfm on it and didn't notice much difference. I also have a flat top 306 with a solid cam with .560 lift as a street car. AV gas or premium only... prefer the AV gas... The 4.88 gears help, but it is impresive to anyone that hasn't been around Fords in a while. Oh well, just wanted to spread some FORD info around.

Old school ford performance all the way, I got a 79 t bird that used to have a 302 with a bad push rod, so I swapped it for a 69 429. the old 302 was just a 2bbl but I kept it in the shop cause I plan to some day buy a short box f 150 and build it as a race engine and drag it with a tubbed box. so many things you can do to those old engines. had a 390 FE big block in a 83 f 150 and cracked the frame in it, took the engine and scrapped the truck, but just sold that one a little while ago. last but not least the 351W, no plans for it yet.
