Default AOD valve body

Ok techguys i need some info!
1981 Lincoln AOD. Worked PERFECT then i changed the fluid. Have been through a number of additives and partial changes and now have the most expensive fluid a 1981 Lincoln has ever had!
Several recomendations but none have cured the slip bump and questionable overdrive shift that the new fluid has left me with. I cannot re-use the old fluid as it was drained into a contaminated container.
At this point a replacement or modification of the valve body looks to be the only way to deal with this problem. I have gone through the valve body and found no problems with it.
My questions are, i have heard that the newer valve bodys (late 1980s) are improved in the way the tolerate fluids and need to know if a direct swap can be made from a later VB to this trans?
Also, i have heard that Ford sells a new VB for these AODs that incorporates all the updates and improvements.
Also, would this trans need thereplacement VB from a lincoln to maintain thecallibration or are all the VBs callibrated the same?
By the way, i am a former Ford employee and ASE Certified Mechanic. No problem fixing it, i just need to know the solution.
Many thanks to any one who can fill me in on this info!
