Car dies when put into drive

I just replaced my transmission today, and have checked all fluids, they are ok. When I put car in drive it dies. Reverse works just fine no problem, just drive. I also cut the )2 sensors because they were semi fused and I had to remove complete exhaust to drop tranny. I have not re connected these yet, but car idles just fine. Any and all help is appreciated.

No. I needed to move car from driveway so I didn't.

i just realized it could be a neutral safety switch, does this car have one on the side of the tranny where the gear shift lever connects to?

yes, and the sensors didn't matter. It almost feels like the torque converter just stops when placed in drive. Again, in reverse it is fine.
