2000 Windstar - Help
 

Don't know what to do....2000 Ford Windstar. Wife came back from errands, turned it off and came back out a few minutes later for more errands. As she was backing out, it sputtered and stalled, wouldn't start (turned over fine). Changed the fuel filter, but still no good. Noticed that the normal "hum" from the fuel pump wasn't happening when I turned the ignition. Went to the fuse box, found a mini fuse that controls the fuel pump motor and it was burned up. Replaced it, things were good.

Next day, wife was out again and it died on her (luckily in a parking lot). Went over and the same fuse was burnt again. Replaced it, but still wouldn't start. Waited an hour and it started fine, drove it home. After about 5 hours of looking things over, I found that the fuel pump relay and the electronic control relay both get quite hot after idling for 5 minutes or so. I figure that they get so hot that they shut down (or blow a fuse). I replaced both relays, but problem remains. What should I do next? Maybe a short somewhere? Help!

Sound like the fuel pump is on its way out. Is the fuel level low? The fuel pump uses the fuel to cool itself. If ran with low fuel level for extended periods, the fuel pump can over heat causing thermal overload causing the fuse to blow. This can also lead to fuel pump burn-out.
