Default 2000 Windstar rear air/cond leak

Rear A/C line is leaking refrigerant. New line is very expen$ive. Can one leave the rear a/c selected off and recharge the system. Then just use the front to cool cabin(like the old days). Not sure if this would isolate the system or is the system/loop continuous/shared?

No...The HIGH pressure side is "Y'd" then goes to the front orifice and to the rear expansion valve. The LOW pressure side is "Y'd" back together at the accumulator. You would need to block off the HIGH and LOW pressure lines that feed the rear evaporator. This would require cutting and blocking the lines off. Then you would need to re-charge the system with only 44 oz. of R-134a vs. the 56 oz. required for a working DUAL system. Otherwise. of you block off the rear lines and re-charge with 56 oz., ou will SLUG most likely SLUG the compressor with hot liqud refrigerant

Tx-I was afraid that it is all one system-tx for confirming it-looks like it will be a hot ride.
