2001 Windstar Will Not Stay in Park
1. The vehicle rolls when placed in park, as such the e-break is being used to hold it in position. 2. The column shifter is loose, to the point where it is hard to determine what position the transmission is in, ie. in Drive I or II or Neutral, etc. 3. I will be replacing the Neutral Safety Switch as the vehicle does not start unless it is in the Neutral position. Was wondering what else could be causing the two issues (numbers 1 and 2 above) as previously mentioned. Thank you for any guidance. |
What you might do is check if the excess slop in the linkage is due to looseness in the shifting linkage up inside the steering column or in the cable and those parts that go down to the transmission.
Once you determine which area it is you can check further for loose, worn or broken parts. |
