94 aerostar arm rest removal

Swival arm rests have a bolt that requires a tool that has 6 shoulders at the end of a socket or L shaped wrench? About 1/4 inchsize?, and you would insert the tool into a hole in the foam covering to remove the star? headed bolt that the arm swivals on.

What tool is this and where can you get one?

Wish to install universal seat covers and not made for seats with swival arm rests..

That style of bolt is called a 'Torx' bolt.. I don't remember the exact size, but would probably be a T45 or T50.. You can go to most auto parts stores that sell tools (tool boards)and usually they'll have individual driver sockets for sale so not to have to purchase a set.. Drive the van by, and have them check for the correct size...

Talk about dumb luck for an old man, I remembered I had a set of hex wrenches. With a lockgrip for leverage the long angle of a 1/4 inch fit and it was a breeze from then. It was not a bolt but a long screw with a spring at the head end and a big washer at the other.

Thanks for the Torxbolt reply from Hayapower. I can see now that would have been easier also.
