97 windstar torq swap help advie

hi got a 97 windstar lost all power driving on highway a yr ago up in remote northern canada told i could have it things near mint other then the no shifting.
belongs to my dad.
he got it 5yrs ago with 40,000km's on it now has around 120k

sat the last yr in a garage waiting to get to this i live 800kms away nearest parts shop is same distance. nieghbor in town has one thats got a new torq converter that the headgasket blew a week after they got it back sitting in back of their dead van i was told i could have it.

not sure how to support the engine so i can pull the subframe out and unbolt the transmission not much other on this. no engine hoist
the axles are off battery box airintake.

debating on lagbolting some strut to the ceiling and using some channel bolts with angle brackets but dunno if that would hold for mounting to

Use a transverse engine support bar. These are used for supporting the engine in the vehicle while removing the tranny. They are supported by the inner fender lips. Here's one from Harbor Freight to give you an idea.

1000 Lb. Capacity Engine Support Bar

Or you can rig up your own system with some type of uni-strut and chain.
