camber change on alignment...
hi pros,
how I change the camber from positive to 0 on my 89 Ford Aerostar an 01 T&C? thanks |
RE: camber change on alignment...
There are shims on the upper control arm. Adding shims equally to the ft and back of the arm should lower your camber. There is a special tool to get to the nuts that allow you add or remove the shims, although you may be able to do it without it. You will need shims too.

So I’m replacing a worn lower Control-arm/ball joint assembly; driver’s side. I do Autozone because of their lifetime warranty. The part number is:
Duralast Ball Joint CA14309What I’ve discovered is the new Pinch-bolt/nut requires a resizing of the hole. Has anyone else ever run into this issue? |
Keep in mind when you alter things from original, you could open a can of worms.
I would suspect you received an incorrect part and would check with a dealership parts dept to be sure. You should be aware that a lot of places supply a "fits all" part and are not vehicle specific. How much longer do you plan to keep the vehicle if the replacement part from an OEM supplier lasted X number of miles and years? There are reasons why shops choose certain suppliers and lifetime durability is rarely questioned. I personally don't appreciate doing the job over and over again , but I get the parts for free. Most of us prefer to get the right part ,pay a few cents more and when its done we don't need to go back and do it again later because the selling feature pushed a lifetime warranty. Most American made parts will usually last. |
