Exhaust header bolts broken

While removing the catalytic converter Y-pipe from the engine of my '01 Windstar, both attach bolts broke in the header. Does anyone know if that necessarily requires me to change the header? I don't know if the studs screw in, slip through (as in a nut and bolt arrangement), or are pressed in place. There is a good 1/2 inch of stud left protruding from the header.

Additionally, has anyone changed these studs or the header with the engine still in the car? I'm prepping to change the subframe and will have some more room to get to the header from underneath once the subframe is removed, but I don't know about this job and would appreciate any insight from experience.

Thanks

It has been a while since your question was posted, have you solved the problem or are you still checking around?

Actually I just removed the manifold yesterday, so I can take it to a shop where they can heat it up and remove those studs.

Looks like you have everything under control and no further suggestions necessary !
