IGNITION LOCK AND SWITCH
 

I have a 2003 Windstar SE. Recently the key will not turn to start vehicle when inserted.I have to turn the key slightly towards me, and then turn the key to start vehicle. Also, the inside lights flicker a bit when I do this. Does anybody know what the cause is? Will a litte WD40 into the key slot help? The steering wheel is not locked when trying to start the vehicle.

2 Things factor in here, the tumbler and the electronic position mechanism. Beings you described lights flickering I would say its the switch or as I put it (electronic position mechanism because it sounded good). You will need a new one and its not extremely difficult to replace and once you do it you will be surprised how easy it is to steal a car before key coding.
