Default stalling out

'98 windstar V6 keeps stalling out at low speeds (<10 mph). After it stalls out, when i turn the key, sometimes it takes 7-10 turns before it even turns over, i turn it and just get nothing. i have no idea and every mechanic is stumped. its very random when it stalls. sometimes it will go a week without stalling, other times it will do it 3 or 4 times on a trip. Please help!!

Hello and good day, sorry for the delay in response.

First: May I ask what time of maintenance you have done on this vehicle?? Can you give me some History on this???

This sounds Fuel related...I have only seen this once before...and it was the Fuel Pump..

Thanks for the response

This is actually my mom's van. She bought it used in May '07 and it has been doing it ever since she bought it. I'm not sure of the names of all the parts, but i will see her this weekend and can take pictures of what has been cleaned and replaced to try to fix the problem.

We were looking around a little bit more and found out there is oil in the antifreeze overflow. Maybe a cracked cylinder or something. She bought a warranty with it so that's good. Could this cause it to stall out?

Thank you for this information....Yes you may have Crack Block...Crack cylinder head...or a Crack/Blown Head Gasket.

Good luck .... 6
