When I shift straight from park to Drive the car will not shift into 3rd gear. The car just revs louder and never shifts into 3rd.


"While driving after shifting straight from park to Drive" If I shift backwards into Neutral or down into 2nd and then back into Drive it has no shifting problems.


"Before even going anywhere" Right away, if shift to Drive and then backwards into Neutral or down into 2nd and then back into Drive it has no shifting problems.


I have to do this every time the car is first started or put back into Park.


I have checked for codes with a code reader and there is nothing there and no engine light.

What do you think?

 

Might be a good idea to check the MLPS (manual lever position switch) (neutral safety switch) on the trans, for possible corroded connections. If all appears OK switch itself could be defective.
