Headers on 98 p71 police cruiser
Hey guys, I just bought a 1998 p71 police cruiser september 8th of this year. Its got 77 thousand miles, was an Ex detective unit, and runs and looks great. the cost was 3 thousand at a local police auction. I know the engine has dual exausht and it is the police interceptor packege. But i've been trying to modify it. so far i've taken out the cats, put flow masters, white gauges, and some body work. I've also been searching for headers but cannot find any headers for my 1998 ford crown victoria p71 police interceptor. I hope someone on here can help me find headers that will fit in my car and maybe a link to a good chip for the engine. thankyou all for the help and support.
Heres a picture of the P71 (Tell me if you think I got a good deal or bad deal please.)

RE: Headers on 98 p71 police cruiser
I'd say you got a pretty decent deal, I just got a 99 Crown Vic, not a PI, with 99k miles in it, and some cosmetic wear here and there, and a cracked reverse light, for 2,000, but I would definitely rather have gotten yours for 3000, I really mean it.

Hey guy love the exhausts. I flowmasters but left the turn down factory. I really need the tips. I have a 200 I can't believe they put four cats on this thing. I am scared to get them off. Keep up the good work. just google headers for 98 crown victoria. and by a K&N custom intake

Go to Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Marauder, and Towncar and check out some of the vendors. About the only headers you can find are either shorty style (which really are worthless and not better than what the factory installed) or for the 98+ Kooks Headers (which are expensive in the area of about $1300). The P71s used a decent exhaust manifold. The rest of the exhaust just needs to be opened to 2 1/4 in, like the Mustangs. Except for over the axle, I think you can go to 3 inches from the manifold to the axles, then reduce back down to 2 1/4 in. There just isn't enough room for a 2 1/2in exhaust over the axles.
There is also a write-up someone did about what can and can't work on the P71 at the link above. As far as a tune, SCT makes a great tuner and has the tunes for the Panthers. Unless you locate someone who specializes in the Panthers to write you a tune, you are better off buying your own tuner.

Hey Gino
If I were you I would not worry about a chip most of them are just scams! start with easy then work your way up by replacing big items. for an exhaust its all he said she said, its up to you what brand to buy. i use hart throb exhaust and speed daddy headers it sounds mean
