Default Tires

Anyone tried to put 255/50/16's on the back of a 2003to 2005 Crown Vic. I figured it would look nice. 255/50/16's on the rear, and 215/60/16 on the front. Both tires have a diameter of 26.1". The stock tire is a 225/60/16 which is a 26.6 diameter tire, so there is not much difference in height. Right now in the summer i have a set of 235/60/16 on the rear and 225/60/16 on the front without any trouble. Tires need replacing come the spring, and i want that nice wide agressive look on the back.

Default RE: Tires

Reducing the sidewall is probably not your main concern. Look at tire width at the front wheels and also look for tire proximity to undercarriage and frame parts. Often stock wheel wells aren't a perfect deal to go along with bigger tires.

There is a 99 Crown Vic in the new issue of Car Craft. Though the car is running 95 17x9 Cobra wheels with 3/4 inch spacers in the rear and 1/2 inch spacers in front, the owner is clearing a 285/40ZR17 inch tire all the way around.
