Default 2004 E-350 emergency brake

I have a 04 E-350 that seems to be having a emergency brake issue. My husband released the ebrake by pulling the lever in the van. However once he got going he said they were still engaged. He has rear disc brakes. Is there anything we can do to get the ebrake to disengage because he is working away from home this week and he works out of his van. He is going to burn out the brakes if he keeps driving it and is far away from home.

Thanks in advance.

You can cut the emergency brake cable in front of the rear wheels. Hopefully that will be behind where it is frozen.

Before cutting anything, what he could try is to spray the part of the cables where they are exposed and not in the casing using something like PB Blaster or similar penetrating oil. Try working them and they might free up enough to get home without destroying the parking brake shoes. Those cables do have a tendency to freeze up with non/ little use. In any case they will most likely need to be replaced. Brake cables are very hard to cut and if he can avoid doing that I would think twice before attempting that.
