If anyone can help it would be appreciated. I have a 99 exp. EB with 5.4 and having trouble with the heater, some say it is the blend door. The rear unit works fine but the front unit just blows cold air. I also noticed that when the heat is on and I turn up the fan speed I can hear a clicking sound which occurs about every 15sec. I can only hear it under the hood and it sounds as if it is behind the firewall on the passenger side, I can't hear it in the cab. If I turn the fan speed off the clicking stops. I don't know if this is the blend door trying to work or not. Also inside and on the passenger side, under the dash there is a small (about half inch) hose, if I disconnect it there is hot air coming from it. I don't know what this hose is but it comes out of the heater and runs up under the dash (anyone know what this hose it?). If it's the blend door is there any web site that gives detailed instructions on how to replace it, if not can anyone tell me? My second problem is the shift selector, it has suddenly moved so that reverse is in neutral and drive is in second. Does anyone know how to adjust this? Thanks, Bart[/align]

 

Sounds like the blend door actuator is trying to move the blend door into position..

For the 'shift position hunting', look at the lower portion of yoursteering column where the steering shaft comes out,, between the dash and firewall looking straight'up' from the carpet scuff plate/foot area.. You'll see the shifter control arm atached to the shifter tube with 2 torx screws.. Generally they just come loose, but can work all the way out..Most times the torx screws are the fault for the loose selections and should be Loctited on install, and is easier done if you pull them back snug, (keeps the holes/lever lined up) then remove one at a time and apply the thread locker.. .. The other thing that will make for a sloppy shifter, is if shifter tube bushings are worn and will allow the tube to walk/wobble..
