Default 1997 ford f150

I have a 97 f150 extended cab 8 cylinder. My inspection was due last month, but I could not get it inspected because the check engine light was on, so I took it to Autozone to have it checked out. It showed there was a misfire in cylinder 3 so I changed all the plugs and wires. After doing that and driving it for 50 miles the check engine light came back on, so I took it back to Autozone and it still said misfire for cylinder 3. My first questions is what may be causing this since I tuned it up and it is still shimming and shaking and it shows misfire cylinder 3? My next question is since I can't drive it more then 50 miles before the check engine light comes on, do you think if I start it up and let it run just by sitting in the drive way for an hour if it would pass inspection if the check engine light stays off? The reason I ask that is because the inspection place said I need to drive it for at least a hundred miles after hooking the battery back up. My thought process is that if I can let it sit in the drive way for an hour after I start it up that everything would reset and if the light doesn't come on it would pass inspection until I can get it fixed. Does anyone think that will work or will I have to drive it 100 miles?
