Default Ignition

Turn switch on with no response other than a click . If I jump the starter solenoid with a screwdriver starter responds immediately. Replaced starter and starter solenoid. Still nothing.

It would help if we knew if it was an auto trans or manual, and was something recently done to the vehicle? Year, model, mileage help too.

Default 2000 Ford F350 7.3 crew cab 4x4 auto transmission

No recent work completed. Was driving on snowy slushy roads when it first happened and I could not shift to park until the under carriage melted clear of ice. I installed new starter and starter selenoid. Oops spelling. 155000 miles.

On the driver's side of the trans is the MLPS (manual lever position switch),with wires going to it. That switch lets the system know the vehicle is in park, rev. etc. Check for possible connection or broken wires there.

All wires intact on transmission. Are there any other selenoids that I should be checking. Anything in the keyed ignition?

The signal from the ign sw generally goes from the start position of the ign sw through the neutral safety sw (MLPS) to the starter relay, on down to the starter solenoid at the starter. With your test lite/voltmeter, confirm you are getting the signal at the relay to energize it. If not, you need to back trace it to see if you are getting it both ,in and out of the neutral safety sw. The linkage from the shift column shift lever uses a cable to move the lever at the trans and position it in park/ neutral for starting. If you attempted to shift it when frozen it could have changed the proper position of the lever and MLPS where it is not in park, etc. The best way to confirm that is to disconnect the cable from the lever at the trans, place the lever in the full detent position of park , then with the shift lever at the column in the park position , you should be able to install the cable end easily on to the lever on the trans. If not perfectly aligned , you need to reposition the cable end to align with the hole on the lever.

Thank you! This makes sense to me with the crazy road conditions that froze the undercarriage real bad. I was working the shift lever back and forth to get it in park and then drive. Will go right out and test .
