Default Mid-Acceleration Stall/Sputter

I own a 67 ranchero with the 289...it has a carter 4bbl carb and hei distributer..

My vehicle sputter is getting annoying

Well anyway when i drive it as I pull out onto the road to accerate it will sputter at 30-40 mph. This only happens when the engine is cool and i press on the gas about halfway (medium Acceleration). If I step on the gas hard, it will accelerate up to whater just fine...if I keep it easy it will be fine till whenever...only when i accel at medium when cool..when it has been running for a while it goes away..

I have had the timing adjusted at the shop..adjusted the air screws to check if just by chance they were not set...replaced the inline fuel filter..replaced the carb springs (thought maybe the springs were bouncing around, cuz they were old). Will try dumping in that engine cleaner stuff tomorrow.

but anyway
It runs fine during idle (little lower than I like, but reasonable), and will throttle up and down in park just fine..like a champ

Thanks
