Know how you feel on having a nice vehicle. People always tell me, "You always keep your vehicles looking and running like new". My response is always, "If I wanted to drive a vehicle that looked like garbage, I would have bought a garbage truck"...

Default Now wait a minute!

WELL!,, Maybe I spoke too soon. I have put about 2000 miles on this van and the "OIL CHANGE REQUIRED" light is on again. AND just like before, there is no way to reset it. It is not low on oil, the oil pressure is fine, there are no leaks, it runs good, WTF?? I am NOT going to change my oil every 2000 miles and I don't need a light on the dash panel to tell me to.
No, I didn't crawl under it to see if there is a sensor on the pan, I really doubt that there is. I also have a 2003 Windstar and the change oil light works just like it did on my Lincoln and just like the owners manual says it does. I guess my next step is to go to my favorite oil change store and see if they can help. I'll let ya'll know what I find out.

Looking thru the owners manual for a 1999 Windstar, it appears that the algorithm for oil life is based on "approximately 5,000 miles or 180 days".

Other than that, you got me...

Hi Guys,
For any of you that remember the problem I was having with "OIL CHANGE REQUIRED" message, IT'S BACK.. OK here's the deal. I changed the oil and the message was reset. WOW, It worked! Great. Now I have driven the car about 2000 miles and the light is back on. They (FORD) surely doesn't expect me to change oil this often. Yes, once again I cannot reset the "OIL CHANGE REQUIRED" message. The owners manual AND the service manual tells me how to reset the message. Both places agree on the procedure. Both places tell me I can change the mileage required before the alert comes on. . . Doesn't work. Is there some secret society that I have to join to fix this problem?
Any ideas?
