Default Ford releases new F-Series Trimlines

Ford Motor Company has spent the past few years locating its trucks in interesting, atypical places. Their heavy presence on the Discovery Channel, with not-so-subtle plugs in popular shows like Dirty Jobs, along with advertising partnerships with various other companies, and it is from those partnerships that the new trimlines have grown.

The first is the 2009 Harley-Davidson F-450. The Harley colors have flown proudly on Ford trucks for several years now, but this is the first time that the HD Special Edition package is available on the F-450 variant. While still available on the smaller F series trucks, the Harley-Davidson F-450 begins with an exterior upgrade that includes blue flames running the length of each side. That blue flame interior is copied throughout the interior of the truck, and the fire shares space with a handful of Harley-Davidson badges both inside and out. An interesting feature on the HD F-450 is the new Ford Tough Bed. This is a spray-no bed coating, which has become a very popular aftermarket application to trucks, but for the first time Ford will be offering it as standard equipment on some trimlines.

The second new trimline is the Cabela’s FX4. Ford has a long history with Cabela’s (the world’s largest outdoor outfitting company) in their catalogs and advertisements, but this is the first time that FMC will put the Cabela’s name on a vehicle. Information gathered from new truck buyers showed that a whopping 76% of that group lists hunting and/or fishing as one of their hobbies, so it only makes sense to offer a trimline tied into the largest company in the world that services those outdoor enthusiasts. The new Cabela’s FX4 starts with a unique two-tone exterior offering five colors along the top of the truck (Ebony, Oxford White, Forest Green Metallic, Royal Red Metallic and Silver Metallic) with Sterling Grey Metallic trim along the lower body, the wheels moldings, and the running boards. Inside, the FX4 features the Cabela’s logo embroidered on either standard cloth seats or optional leather seats that also wear a two-tone pattern. The scheme is continued to the all-weather floor mats which match the seats, and a wood appliqué decorates the center stack. There is also an optional upgrade package that includes a locking center console and a locking rear under-seat storage compartment.

With SEMA 2009 just over a month away now, perhaps we will see these new trimlines launched at the huge show in Vegas.
