Default Ford shuts down Mercury division

According to a report from Bloomberg, Ford Motor plans to close the doors on its Mercury division after 70 years of existence, by the end of this year due to dismal sales. Developed in the 1930s by Edsel Ford, son of founder Henry Ford, as a Buick-like, Mercury will have the same destiny as Plymouth, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn and Hummer. Edsel Ford established Mercury during the Great Depression as a mid-priced alternative to mainstream Ford and upscale Lincoln.

here

cheers!
