302 28oz. Balance w/AOD
Hi all - first post here.
I have a 1964 Falcon that is a bit of a hodge-podge of parts. The motor is a rebuilt 1979 302 (now 306cu.in after over-bore) that I believe came from a truck. I mounted this to an AOD from an 87 Mustang. I have a 28oz balance in this motor and used the damper and flexplate for the 28oz setup. The motor runs perfectly except when it's in drive/reverse then it has a hellavua vibration. Now, the torque converter is a wildcard. Bought off eBay as a used, stock one from a Mustang. Who knows right, could have been from anything, could be damaged, no idea. I suspect this may be the culprit to my wicked vibration. I don't know if there are specific torque converters for a 28oz balance motor used on an AOD that would have been in a 50oz. balanced motor. Does anyone know the answer to this? Any other ideas on the balance/vibration issues?
Thanks!

Welcome to the site..
If it were a flex/balancer issue id think there would be a harmonic vibration running the RPM's up stationary in P/N. Under engagement if the vibration develops, I'd be suspect of the converter.or a partial lockup..
