Default best v8/5speed/transfer case combo?

working on a project that hopefully will get me into a 4x4 by the end of the summer. what is the best overall fuel injected 4.6-5.2l v8/five speed transmission/transfere case combo that will bolt together with out having to buy adapters? home made adapters would be fine, but I don't want to have to pay for a new bell housing or something. the criteria I am looking at are cost, avalability, relighability, power and fuel effecency. the biggest one is cost. This would probably be going into a long wheel base jeep.

I am also thinking that I should just go all the way- what would be the best drivetrain that meets all the above criteria but expand displacement to 400-500 cubic inches?

It is not FI, but I came into ownership of a Dodge 360 out of a 73' van. would this mount in front of the fivespeed (NV4500?) that came behind a FI 360? also what transfer cases would mount to what ever five speed that came behind the FI360?
