Smile Want to rebuild 302

I'm thinking of rebuilding my 302 but don't know where to start really. All I know this far is cam it and port and polish the heads. What else could be done to beef it up and what size cam is recommended? Don't want to loose all gas mileage but expect it to loose some. Does the computer have to be messed with if u start changing internal parts that give it more horsepower? Please help have not ever built a motor

Rebuilding an engine isn't really all that difficult a job. Just remember that cleanliness, in reassembly, is of the utmost importance. Also understand that machine work, which will be required on the heads and cylinder walls, and boiling the crud out of the block will have to be done by a qualified automotive machine shop. They can also give you many valuable tips on reassembly and what parts are best to use for the rebuild. Good luck.
