Default '62 Fairlane 500 questions

I just picked up a nice stock '62 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Sedan Challenger 221 V-8 Fordomatic. It's my first Ford so I'm trying to learn what makes 'em tick. I'm looking into a few upgrades and need help with some of the basics.
*Transmission: The '62 was introduced with the 221, which was replaced by the 260 mid-year. Are they the same block? If so, would a 3-speed Cruise-o-matic transmission be an option with the 221 in my '62?
*Cooling System: The car came with an aux electric fan mounted in front of the radiator. Are there overheating issues with this system? The engine is recently rebuilt and runs like a top. I'd like to add an air-conditioning system and the aux fan will be in the way of the condenser. I've looked at Vintage Air systems and the compressor load on the engine isn't bad compared to older systems, but maybe a larger radiator would be a good idea? Is anyone running air or a larger radiator in their car?
*Air Conditioning: I've looked at Vintage Air. I'm sure there are others. Any advice?
*Power Steering: Any advice?
*Power brakes: Possibly front disc? Any advice?
Thanks!

The 221, 260, 289 and 302 are basically the same engine.
