Default Fender badge meaning

Hello all, and thanks for accepting me as a new member.
My question is this: Is there any significance to the fender badge on my 65 Fairlane 500 which is the 289 with crossed flags emblem.

Thank you

Thumbs up

Welcome to the site,,

Well, other than denoting the cars engine installed displacement as a V8/289, the crossed checkered flags under the 'V' I think is sort of like a Vettes, crossed flames meaning a winner. At least that's what I always thought.. :-)

Default flags

The crossed flags were first used on the 55 t-bird
The winning flag at races were of the black\white checked style
