Default Heater box

One day
Anyone who has a 62 Galaxie or the associated wagon and
has removed the Heater box, is there something I'm missing..
The manual says to remove the retaining nuts.. I see no retaining nuts
the heater box sits on the sound insulation as far as i can tell..
I know I need to remove the hoses. But I'm talking about taking the
heater box out... What did you do!!!!
Just so we don't have a miscommunication. this is up under the dash
under the glove box and radio...
Best
Dave

Default heater

OK, so I should have "thought" and looked at the firewall..
the heater box has studs that push through the firewall and
speed nuts are used on the engine side..
So now you know the rest of the story!!!!

Thumbs up

Most are that way,, although they like to sneak a hex sheet metal on occasion from the interior. More so GM.. Or hide one behind the inner fender ...

I'm just glad I "thought" to look...
I just need to move it so I can put in the new floor pan... and of course while it's
out, I'll do a little cleaning, de rusting of a few parts I see... maybe some fresh paint..

just another up date on the heater box.. Guess I'm doing this so the next guy
has some insight..
The heat box is I think fiberglass, with a tin sheet plate on the side facing the
firewall.. It is held in place by bent over metal tabs...
The heater core is not really "held" in place, but there are 4 plastic nubs
protruding and are held by a type of (c clamp) remove this clamp and turn the
nub quarter turn.. there is a slot for a striaght screw driver.
then just pull up on the heater core..
Like always take care when bending those metal tabs when removing the metal
plate.. it needs that even pressure all around the box...
