65 Fairlane, 289 with Quadrajet, I can’t get the secondary’s to open with stock throttle setup any suggestions other? TIA!

 

Just want to verify,,,,,,,,,,,,, Quadrajet is a Rochester carb. Sure it is not a Motorcraft carb ?

Do you know how this carb got onto this vehicle?

Does it have an electrically heated choke coil?

There are several model quadrajets and the more info you can provide the better.

Have a Delco manual and there are several model carbs with 4 barrels. Is there a chance you can get the carb model from the number on the main body of the carb

It would be located in a vertical form usually on the front of the main body of the carb. This goes back a bit, but may be on the driver's side of the carb main body..

There is a link from main throttle shaft that allows secondary throttle valve to open when the primary butterfly blade reaches a certain point and incoming air pushes down the secondary air blades.. The choke MUST be fully open FOR THE SECONDARYS TO OPERATE.
