so uhh....i got a 64 falcon futura in the garage...

its got a 302 that needs to be refreshed (read: taken apart and complete rebuild...)

so uhhh.....
first post!!!!!!!!

in that model year the engine would be a 289 which preceeded the 302 in the small block family of engines. that is unless someone replaced it with a later 302 engine. why don't you go ahead and pull it and rebuild it, it would make a classic ride!

Yes. 289 would be correct. Check engine block codes to identify it. Sometimes they would take 302 parts and put them on 289 blocks too and that can get confusing.
