Good Morning. Can you folks help to locate my Fairlane VIN? Was Ford stamping the VIN on body panels in 1965?
I have been searching my 1965 Fairlane Sport Coupe for the VIN. A metal tag does exist, riveted to the drivers door. It includes information for Body, Color, Trim, Date and also an eleven digit number and letter string. Also printed on the tag is the statement " Nor For Title Or Registration Purposes". Any and all discussion would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

Some manufacturers riveted a plate to the firewall on the driver's side in the engine compartment just below the upper cowl.
