Default motor tranny swap

i got a 93 bronco . i pulled the motor and trans and put in a 302 and AOD trans in it out of a 86 bronc. and added a b&m shifter . also in case it matters i took out the efi and through on a 650 holly, a early 80's distibutor and ignition module and did away with the comp all togather. got the motor runnin good, got the shifter in, and the drive shafts made and in. backed it down the driveway, put it in drive and every thing was fine till 3rd gear. the tranny shifted fine from 1st to 2nd but when 3rd hit the motor boged down and sounded to me like it hit 3rd too soon. well instead of acceling it bogged farther and farther down. i down shifted to 2nd and she took off again. any one got a clue why the drive and od didnt work. also since i put it into a newer vehicle i couldnt hook the elec plug up. does the plug do anything about shifting or does it just tell the comp what the trannys doing. the tranny worked fine in the 86 i took the motor and tranny out of. so im not sure. also now that i think of it is there a vaccum valve on an aod like on the c-6 and if so could the problem be i didnt hook that up? SOME ONE HELP PLEASE!!!
