I just picked up a 1997 Ford Contour and it as a tranny problem and it is driving me nuts because I firgure it out.

The person I got the car off of rebuilt the tranny by himself and didnt know what he what doing. The guy said there was a part that was broke inside tranny and Im not sure what parts it was he said it was.

What it is doin. When in drive it will slip and not move untill you shift is by hand form 1st to 2nd then into drive after that it wont shift into 3rd and overdrive but it will go into revser, 1st and 2nd. There is no codes to be pulled. There is a new filter and fulid in it.

What can I do to fix it? Shoud I get tranny form the junkyard and not worry about it?

Please help this is my only car and I think it is something simple and cant pin ponit it.
