97 contour timing

97 contour timing
I just bought a 97 Contour and as I just pulled it into the Garage to inspect it and the timing belt broke>>. I am through replacing it and now I am having trouble timing it. I have a tool to insert into the cams for alignment and I put number 1 cyl. on tdc. Does the lobes on the exhaust cam follow right behind the intake cam??? THis is a 2.0I need help.............Thanks
