Just looking to see if anyone else owns or has owned a CNG powered Crown Vic? I just bought me a 1997 Crown Vic with the Ford Factory CNG package (vin 9). let me know what you think of the CNG setup. I know that the compression is increased from 9.1:1 to 10.1:1 the sticker under the hood says the tank is 36gallon equivlent capacity. if so at 20+mpg i could go like 700-800 miles on a fill up. Haven't driven it yet as I am waiting to get the CNG cardlock card so I can fill up somewhere.

Hey i'm a new member at ford forums here, i've had a 99 crown vic on cng for 6 months now, it's really an amazing car. I live in utah where cng is .64 cents per gallon, the cheapest cng price in the country, so i fill up my car for 8 bucks that fills up 4 tanks in the trunk and 1 behind the axle. This is the factory extended range tanks setup if you don't know. It sounds like you've got the same or similiar setup, but I think your confused by the 36 gallon rating you read, that means if you filled the tanks with a liquid they would hold 36 gallons, but cng takes more space per gge than a liquid does. (gasoline gallon equivilant, you don't actually measure cng in gallons since it is a gas, so the gge is a measurement of gas that contains the same potential energy as gasoline, but it's often reffered to as just gallons). I hold about 13 gge's of cng that will take me around 250 miles. Do you have your key card yet? have you driven it much yet?
