I have a 95 p71 vic, and I have flowmaster super 44s on it with the second converter hollowed out, it id still whisper quiet. I am looking at headers for 96 and up mustangs, they seem like they would fit with the corresponding h or x pipe. Any info on this would be great. Has anyone done this to their vic, or know if these mods will work without too much modification to the rest of the existing exhaust?? I just want some exhaust note, dont wanna be extremely loud or obnoxiois.

 

P71s DO have different heads, AND programming. Do some research before u look like a fool posting whatever comes to the top of ur bald head. Drive a p71, then a civillian vic, and tell me u dont feel a difference. I work on these cars every day, its my job, maybe if u didnt live behind a keyboard, u would learn something

 

Hey 95 p71. Please look at the dates of the posts you are replying to. There was one older than this one. This one is about 1 1/2 years old.

 

I'm looking at some of the old posting in this thread and laughing at all the mis-information here. The Crown Vic since 1992 has been almost the same in civilian models as police models. The only differences were in the programming of the PCM different shift points, higher idle speeds, and higher top end. The P71 used better tires for longer high speed use, HEAVY DUTY suspension parts for minor off-road excursions, and primarily for longer service lives. Additional cooling for power steering and oil was added, and a high fan speed for the radiator. The PI heads were introduced in ALL 4.6L and 5.4L engines in 1999 after Ford put them in the Mustangs. Now there were some Special Pursuit models offered with a modified programmed PCM, but you will never find them at any auction. Ford will detune these engines before they can be auctioned off (part of the contract with Ford).

 

I have been purchasing CVPI's for over 20 years. Where are these tuned cars and the de-programming contracts? I have never seen any of those in any contract.

 

I have a friend who worked for the Ford Regional office who told me about these Special Pursuit vehicles. They were very few made, and had to be brought to the Ford dealer occasionally for maintenance. It was at this point were they were re-programmed. It was written as a special recall on these particular vehicle. They all had to be filled with premium gasoline.

Which vehicles? He didn't know. All he knew was that these were special timing programs Ford was trying out on some of the Crown Vics.

I have a 2003 crown vic, and I put 215/60/16 on the front and 255/50/16 on the rear. The car looks great, no handling problems.

 

If these are all the same why does Ford put POL on the front cover 07 back and FFPOL on 08 up. The also list them as having slightly more compression. The 239 to 250 hp took place in 2004 which is also the last year for throttle cables. These cars run quite different and they have different shift points and rear axle ratio's are often lower in civilian models.
