Default Direct engine swaps for a 4.6dohc

Hey Y'all,
I'm working on a 1994 Crown Vic. and am wondering what engines will be a direct fit. Basically, I'm looking for a used engine that will bolt in with minimal effort. I seem to be finding alot of Mustang 4.6L but am unsure of year model changes or if sohc will work in a dohc setup.Any info would be helpful!

I'm not surewhat engine you are replacing but don't go mixing 2v with 4v. I want to put 4v heads on my 2v motor and I've been told it's a lot of work and not worth it. You need to get the current dimensions of your motor and compare to the 4.6 or 5.4L motor dimensions. I used to get them from books when I swapped GM engines.

92,93,94,95 4.6 should be a direct fit if it came from CV or Grand marquis. 96 and 97 had composite intakes and had sensors placed different. If you want to change sensors, intake and a few minor brackets, you can swap up till 2002. This is for a long block swap. You might have to swap the oil cooler and oil filter adapter if you go witha 98 or newer.
