I have a 2004 crown vic, and have recently developed a transmission problem. It doesnt want to shift out of first gear very much and when it does, it doesnt shift hard, just shifts like always. Also when I go into overdrive to pass, it acts like it is shifted into neutral. But the car runs fine other than that!! I am thinking I need a tranny rebuild? Could it be a shift soliniod in the valve body? Any input would help!!

 

First check the transmission fluid to be sure it is full. It might be a good idea to service the transmissions also if it has been a while since it was serviced.
