Just had Moog coil springs installed on my Crown Vic Lx 80090 for the front and cc865 for the rear. The car sits about 1 and a half inch higher all around. Hopefully this will settle with time. The ride is stiff and the car bounces too much because it's so stiff. It's like being on a roller coaster where the car goes over every single bump or mound on the road. In other words, the suspension doesn't absorb the road and you bounce so much inside that the seat becomes your shock absorber. I also have the KYB gas-a-just shocks installed. Does anyone know why my car is doing this? Even the police cars that supposedly have this suspension installed don't ride or look like this.

 

those springs are too stiff for that car if it ain't a police interceptor then the suspension ain't designed for those springs

 

Thanks for your reply grindman. Everywhere I looked for springs all the websites had those springs as OEM so I bought them. I was looking for a little stiffer ride than factory because the old ones were too soft and dangerous to drive with. I called ford and they told me that ford stopped making replacement springs so I bought the Moogs. Do you have any advice as far as getting the correct springs. The front is too stiff. The rear is nice as ride is concerned. The car did go up about 1 1/2 inches all around and it looks ridiculous.

 

you might try looking through a salvage yard and make sure that they don't come off of a police car if yours isn't one

 

My car is the LX model. I really can't go to salvage yards because of time. That's the reason I had to pay to have them installed and it's my only car so doing the job myself would take to long and I don't have the proper tools. Do you know of anyone who has different springs in their Crown Vic and sits normal with a normal ride?

 

the springs you got are too stiff ! you need springs that has some give to them so when you go over a rough road there is some give to them !

 

That is what I was looking for when I bought the moogs. A normal firm ride but these coils make the car too stiff and bouncy. Ford says coils have been discontinued for these cars. I can't imagine what they would install if someone would drive up the dealer and ask for coils be changed. Not to mention the cost. Do you have any sggestions as to which springs I should get? Everywhere I looked all the websites said that moogs were the OEM replacements so I bought them thinking they would give the car a normal firm ride.

 

go with the mercury grand marquis the were are the same car just different name
