Is my 4.6 too far gone?
Hello all,
I am a new guy to the forum with a question regarding my 1999 Crown Vic. I have had an intermittent "check engine" light, the Vic is rough running, and has a chain rattle. I have run it this way for a while. It has been my daughter's car that I haven't had the time to tend to. It has 170,000 ish miles. How do I know if it's too late to remedy the situation?
I was hoping to buy the kit with tensioners, chain, etc., but I didn't want to throw good money at the repair if it's too far gone. Is there anyone that could speak some experience into the situation? I have always heard the Crown Vic 4.6 was capable of quite a few miles if maintained. It's my dad's old car and was hoping to keep it around awhile for some more young drivers in the house.
Thanks for reading!
