Need Help Decoding Door Tag
-I have a chance to pick up a good looking four door 1990 White/White Crown Vic with a small sway bar and a lovely chocolate brown velour interior customized with random cigarette burns. No smell, at least.
-The VIN is: 2FACP74F4LX100520 and I have decoded it but can't decipher the items on the bottom of the sticker:
Body***** LX4
Year******YW
Mldg (?)***W
Int Trim***EK
Tape*****F
R******* H
S******* - ****(nothing there)
AX****** Y
TR****** TRV44
-Can someone tell me what this means? Does it give any information as to how much I can tow with the car?
-Other than the ECU & wiring problems, how hard is it to yank the 302 and replace it with a 351, C or W? Would it be easier to just rebuild the 302 as a 347?
-All assistance gratefully appreciated!!

I know its 3 months since you posted this. I own a 1997 and had a similar problem. Ford used to simply provide a Build Sheet with your VIN upon request, but they seemed to have stopped that. If you go to Shop Ford Gear, you will have to purchase a build sheet. Hopefully you have been trying to do an online search for all these different codes, and managed to find some of them.
IMHO, rebuilding the 302 to a 331 or 347 will be more to your advantage. Both those engines produce a good deal of torque to get our cars moving FASTER. Now if you want to go bigger, try a 408 ci with Cleveland heads from Twisted Wedge heads 410W\427W Ford Super Pro Bullet Long Block The three I have seen installed are BRUTES. You just need to get the ECM or PCM retuned for the engine.

The only one I know is the AX or axle ratio. You have a 3.08 gear one legger. That is, no posi unit.
If you are wanting to hot rod this car, you will need 3.73 or 4.10s to make it scoot.
3.08 is not a good gear for pulling
