Default Vinyl Roof Replacement 87 crown vic

Im looking to classy up my lady with a new vinly roof - padded or un padded. Not looking to drop a ton a learn something new in the process. Tough to do? Any suggestions? I found a wensite where you can get vinyl @ 54" for 13 bucks a yard. What kind and where do I find the padding? Is it even worth it to pad? Thanks fellow Ford enthusiests.

it can be a tough job trying to glue the new stuff on the car... it doesnt look right if it isnt padded either. you could always do a slicktop conversion, but would need to do a lil bodywork to make that happen.... i just removed all the chrome on my girlfriends 1989 Crown Vic then took her car to a vinyl shop... to do the work right, you have to remove the chrome by dropping the headliner, and removing rear trim pieces inside car to access the nuts that hold the trim in place. below is a picture of the stuff removed... we are in process of getting it ready for fresh paint also.
