Default 1974 Econoline - add Air Conditioning?

Hi, first time here…

My wife and I are interested in purchasing this 1974 Econoline E150 for weekend road trips.

However we live in SoCal so having AC is a must. Can AC be added to this model? If so what kit should I be shopping for?

Guy is asking $16K. I took it for a test drive a few days ago. Ran and drove great, body and interior in good shape. What’s a fair asking price?

Thanks!

You buy 97-06 w/ AC, not 1974. This 1974 even at $1.6k I wouldn't even buy it, it's a waste of time.

Sorry are you able to provide a reason as to why this is a waste of time? Your comment is not very constructive. I enjoy cruising in vintage vehicles far more than newer ones.

Obviously I’m aware buying a newer model van would be more practical, but where’s the fun in that? This thing is oozing personality and if it were possible to add AC, it could be such a fun weekend camper.

Solely because you intend to drive it for weekend road trips. When you buy this you don't drive it you park it in your garage and put it on a trickle charger.

A few questions come to mind.

The vehicle appears to be a real find. That said, depending on where you go, if for ANY reason it breaks down will parts and experienced service be available?

A towing and motel cost could put a damper on your pleasure.

There are automotive air conditioning add on units available .
Just type in add on air conditioning units for vans.
Some are under the dash mounted and easily available. You can then decide just what type you want.
