I have a 1990 E350 Long Chassis that U-Haul used for a 20' box truck.
I used it for a construction company I closed in '21.
After it sat for five years it started but the transmission was bad. It's a C6 and I decided to rebuild it myself. Opened it up last night and discovered a broken plastic piece among the literal piles of friction plate material in the oil pan. That's along with several missing bolts, a JB Weld case repair in two places, and a sticker from a uHaul transmission repair shop in Oklahoma that is no longer in business. I already have a master rebuild kit on the way. I'm going to go out and finish the teardown after breakfast. I wanted to share a couple pictures first and hopefully invite advise from folks that might actually know these transmissions.
My entire learning curve is based on online videos.
Should I just toss this case and find a core from a junkyard?
I got the truck retitled as a motor home.
It would make a great bug-out rig, as there's no ECU and you can make your own diesel.
I was going to make a track RV/toy hauler because I race motorcycles for a hobby, but built a car carrier trailer out instead.
I just want to sell it, but I've never sold a POS before in my life, and won't start now. Found this in the oil pan. The piece fits a groove in the governor perfectly. I don't think it will affect the operation, but I could be wrong. Here's the damage.
