E-350 Drum help needed
Hi. My 83 E-350 needs new shoes and I've got them and am ready to go. BUT, the passenger side drum seems to be stuck on. I don't see anything structurally different from the driver side drum, so maybe it's just being a pain in the neck?
Anyone know why the drum won't pull right off like the driver side drum did?
THANKS!!!

1st , did you try backing off the brakes , 2nd , you sure the park brake aint set, 3rd Get a BFH an try whaling on it , Sometimes they get stuck to the hubs (rusted up ), Also they make a special tool just for doing that , Ive never had to use one , But I know some folks insist on having the rite tools to do the job, An finally on the really stubbron ones you take a torch thru the brake adj. slot an SMOKE IT !!!!!

Ram Rod... that's great. I once met a woman whose father starred in Vice Squad as Ram Rod. Wings Hauser was the star.
Thanks, my good man.

you can also spray a little pentrate oil around the stud holes an the hub flange , before you break outthe hammer ,, Oh gotta warn you , you might get some dust flying an wear safety glases too , you can get sparks off the hammer , an sometimes as wee bit of steel flying off , so be careful,

Penetrating oil and some heat (not a lot) then lightly hammer around each stud and edge of drum in the outward direction. Not beating hard and damaging the wheel bearings.
Clean off all mating surfaces including the concentric lip of the hub as well the opening on the drum. Add a little anti seize compound,
a very light coating to all contact areas especially the concentric hub lip and drum center bore. Open wheels without wheel covers driving in the rain or pressure washing accelerates your stuck and rusting conditions. Anti seize for easy removal next time......~~=o&o>......
