Default How to remove Axle

Ok so i have a econoline 150 and im trying to remove the axle. Dont know how. I already removed the brakes and springs but i cant see any other bolts to remove that would release that cylinder thats preventing me from getting to the axle. I want to change the bearings.

Default RE: How to remove Axle

I am asuming it is 9" rear end. There was no need to remove the brakes. The hub where the lug nuts are has a single hole that you can fit a socket through onto one of 4 bolts. On the backside of the backing plate there are nuts. Remove them one at a time. After each one you just rotate the axle 90 degrees to get to the next one. The bearing will have to be pressed off and pressed back on at a machine shop. Replace the seals while you are there. Use extreme caution when replacing the axle so not to damage the seals. I hope this helps.
