Default Lowering an '88 E-250 with 150 parts

I have an '88 E-250 that sits too high and rides too harshly for my liking. I've checked out a 150 (the only other Econoline I've ever seen in Australia) and found that the 250 gets its height at the front by way of I-beams are almost straight whereas the 150's have a drop in them, much like the front axle of a hot rod. The 250 gets its height at the rear by way of the leaf spring hanger which has the spring at the bottom of the frame whereas the 150 has a hanger that puts the spring at the top of the frame. I've bought a pair of 150 I-beams (from the other Econoline whose owner converted it to 4WD using the front axle of a Bronco) and I'm going to either buy or fabricate a pair of 150 leaf spring hangers. I also know that the leaf springs of a 250 are 3" wide whereas the 150s are 2.5" wide. This should make them softer so I'll buy a pair of those too. That leaves the front springs. The 150 beams will do the lowering but I also want softer springs. Does anyone know if 150 springs are softer than 250 springs? If there is more than one type of spring and it's not just 150/250/350, is it more to do with which engine the van has, assuming a 460 is heavier than a 300? Any advice on my plans would be greatly appreciated.
