I have a 2001 E150. I have an issue with starting the van, which I at first assumed was starter trouble. When I try to start the van, I sometimes have to crank it 7 or 8 times before it will start, and I hear just a clicking sound when it doesn't start. Sometimes it works on the first try. What is confusing us is that sometimes the doors will lock and unlock by themselves during the cranking process. This is making us wonder ifthis is not an issue with the starter (which was replaced a few years ago), but something else. Hoping that someone can offer suggestions. Thanks.

 

Try getting new battery cables and battery and clean the cable connections good. Bad cables'll make it like aliens comin' to get 'ya. Lights dim and come back up, guages flicker, car turns off at will and starts intermittant,etc.
