Default 2008 ford edge trans problems

when the truck warms up and sitting at a light, When the light goes green and you try to give the edge some gas it slams into a gear, feeling like we have just been rear-ended! making some odd noise also
The ford trans tech said if there is no light/codes there is no problem
But obviously there is a problem
and Ideas what it is?

Default problem with trans

I just took it for another ride, up a hill and stoped it feels like its maybe in reverse and fwd. as it will not roll back or go forward until you rev the engine to about 2000 rpm and it gives a hard bang and goes into your fwd gear again.
A quick stop does not do this it will act normal.

Still under warranty? I would take the Service Manager on a ride and have him/her experience what you're talking about and experiencing. Sometime, this is the only way to get them to listen. If they want a mechanic to do the ride, make sure that it's the mechanic that will be working the issue.

start with the basics...

did you check fluid level? sounds like the tranny is low on fluid...

when you have to rev motor you are raising fluid pressure inside tranny until it locks up the forward clutch packs to put you into gear...

if its full..you have a problem.....

I have a customer that has a 2000 Ford Excursion 5.4. It has a tranny problem when you put it in reverse it works fine, but when you put it in drive it dies out every time. When I lift the rear tires off the ground I can get it to shift through the gears fine, but as soon as you stop the tires it dies out. I can even brake torque it to keep it running. I think that I have a problem with the torque converter lock up solenoid. Has anyone heard of this problem, and what are the possible fixes. No codes and tranny was rebuild recently. Please help!!!

if it has a 4r100 in it it can either be the solenoid body or the converter causing it to stall the vehicle. those solenoid bodies are bad about the weld cracking at the tcc solenoid. what else can you tell me?

Default excursion tranny problem

I found the problem keep and eye out for these they are nightmares. I replaced the solenoid pack and still had the same problem. F**CK now that I'm 400$ in the hole I got frustrated looking for a shorted wire and traced it all the way back to the pcm. Yup it was a pcm shorted out no codes or nothing. So of anyone runs into this problem trace the wire back to the pcm and check that first. It might save you 400$ what a kick in the *****!!!!
